PISTOL RANGE
The Pistol Range has two mutually exclusive firing areas. They are the fixed, covered firing line uprange, and the downrange area within 40 yards of the earthen berm.
The fixed firing line may not be used while anyone is in the downrange area. The downrange area may not be entered or used while anyone is using the fixed firing line.
Negotiating Pistol Range Use
During normal shooting hours, if you are the first to arrive at the Pistol Range, you may choose whether to use the fixed firing line or the downrange area. If you arrive at the Pistol Range while another club member is using it, you must use the same part of the range that the club member is using until that person leaves the range.
You must close the firing line before using the downrange area. Retractable stanchions are mounted at each end of the firing line. To close the firing line, draw each stanchion belt out and clip its end to the post on the left side of the gap in the firing line. To reopen the firing line, unclip the end of each stanchion belt and carefully walk it back to its mount.
Firearms
Handguns (without braces) only. Pistol caliber carbines are permitted downrange but not on the fixed firing line.
Ammunition must have a velocity of 2000 fps or less.
No Full-Auto firearms or binary triggers.
Type of Shooting
Standing position off-hand shooting only (e.g. without a rest or support) on the fixed firing line.
All shooting positions are permitted in the downrange area. Shooters may shoot 0-40 yards from the earthen berm. The uprange limit is indicated by a sign on the right side berm.
Using the Fixed Firing Line When the Downrange Area is Not Being Used
DO NOT TOUCH firearms when shooters are downrange of your position (between you and the berm).
Firearms on the bench must be made safe (action open and unloaded) when anyone is forward of the bench.
For 25-yard targets: paper targets attached to wooden target holders (you bring!) must be placed in metal target holders behind the wooden barrier.
For 50-yard targets: place paper targets on cardboard backing (you bring!) cut 2' sq. to fit into metal target holders.
No other target type or placement is allowed.
Never attach targets to the club’s wooden structures such as the overhead baffles, beams, or wooden barricades!
Firearms on the bench must be made safe (action open and unloaded) when anyone is forward of the bench.
Using the Downrange Area When the Fixed Firing Line is Not Being Used
No vehicles are permitted in the downrange area.
Drawing from a holster is permitted, but small-of-the-back or shoulder holsters are not allowed.
All shooters sharing the downrange area must use the same firing line, standing equidistant from the berm.
Paper or cardboard targets on wooden frames are allowed. Free-standing IDPA-style target holders are allowed. Caliber-appropriate, downward deflecting, steel targets may be used but must be engaged from a minimum distance of 10 yards. No other target types are allowed.
Place all targets directly at the base of the berm at the back of the range, such that all bullets impact the bottom half of the berm.
Pistol Range Interaction
Pistol, Plinking, and Steel ranges must ceasefire before anyone goes down range on the 200/300 Yard Rifle Range.
A ceasefire will be in effect on the entire range while the light and buzzer are on.
